The Global Coalition for Radiotherapy (GCR) is pleased to share the new About Adaptive Radiotherapy website–a comprehensive, evidence-based resource for all who are interested in learning more about the evolving field of adaptive radiotherapy. Explore key themes within the goal of advancing precision and patient outcomes with Adaptive Radiotherapy.
The website also features the 2025 Impact Report, a comprehensive report combining evidence and real stories to show how radiotherapy is saving lives, reducing side effects, and transforming cancer care through new adaptive approaches. The report brings together contributions from experts and organizations across all regions. You can download the full report here.
We’re especially proud that the GCR Chair, Professor Pat Price authored the foreword for this report. In her remarks, she highlights the future needs of radiotherapy and underscores the importance of global access.
“Today, we stand at the edge of an enormous opportunity: to unleash the full potential of radiotherapy with the right investment, planning, and commitment to ensure access for every community around the world.”
In the News
Prof Price shared her thoughts on this important resource, in an interview with Cancer Network.
“Radiation kills cancer. This is it. We didn't invent radiation. It's given to us. It's our job to find clever ways of using physics, engineering, software, and thinking to make it cure more cancers, save more lives, and give people better lives. That's the challenge, but [there’s a] great future for radiotherapy.”
Cancer Network also featured a video interview, highlighting the advancements in radiotherapy such as adaptive radiotherapy, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Imaging Technology News, published the article, “New Report: Radiotherapy Contributes to 40% of All Cancer Cures.” Pat highlights the significant progress made through innovations such as adaptive radiotherapy.
“Radiotherapy is absolutely coming up on the fast lane, and with amazing technology, we can do so much more than people think we can do. It has to reestablish its place in the cancer continuum, because when it’s not used, we are missing out, and patients are missing out.”
Price also wrote an article for Physicians Weekly, “Saving Lives and Losing Others: Why I Advocate for Global Access to Radiotherapy”:
“I am grateful that 16 of my radiation oncology colleagues answered this call, joining me in contributing to “Precision targeting, global impact: cancer radiotherapy in the 21st century,” a report intended to educate patients, payers, and policymakers about how state-of-the-art radiotherapy technologies is advancing care, and presenting a compelling case for why investment in and access to these technologies can save lives and money.”
We’re proud to see her perspective featured alongside other leading voices from around the world.
Collaborative Partners
GCR’s Executive Director Darien Laird and GCR Representative Prof Kofi Adesi Kyei, Head of Radiotherapy and Radiography at the University of Ghana, recently visited Elekta for a tour for their Crawley, UK site and a strategic planning visit. We are looking forward to great collaboration moving into 2026 and beyond.
