Advocacy and What’s Next for Radiotherapy: Prof Pat Price’s interview with Elekta

“I've had a real mission in the last few years, to make sure radiotherapy is out there in the whole of the cancer continuum. It's part of what we do with the Global Coalition for Radiotherapy, is not so much always talking to ourselves, but how we talk out there, how do we talk to the drug industry, how do we talk to national cancer control plans? How do we talk to imaging? So we've got to do two things in radiotherapy, talk to ourselves obviously and optimize it, but we must be getting out there. And I think through research, and through what we're doing with the Global Coalition hopefully, that can actually put radiotherapy in the place with everybody else, which is where it needs to be.”

- Professor Pat Price

Professor Price joined Emily Basset for an episode of the podcast series, Elekta’s Spilling the RT.

In the episode, Ms. Basset and Prof Price cover a range of topics from advanced technology to advocacy, and whether it’s high time for a radiotherapy-based television drama. For those of you who are interested in the history of Prof Price’s involvement in advocacy campaigning, this podcast will be an interesting listen. Ms. Basset touches on the history of the #CatchUpWithCancer campaign by Radiotherapy UK, as well as how the Global Coalition for Radiotherapy was formed and how, through everything, Price has been fighting to keep radiotherapy in the conversation when cancer treatment is being discussed.
