Announcing the Global Coalition for Radiotherapy Resident Partners; Webinar 3 Nov 2022

The Global Coalition for Radiotherapy is pleased to announce a new initiative, the GCR Resident Partners. This group seeks to foster a community of trainees globally through education, advocacy, and collaboration, working to ensure the future of the radiotherapy workforce is growing, sustainable, and adaptable to the increased needs of cancer patients around the world.

The GCR would like to introduce Kyra N. McComas, MD, who is spearheading the initiative. McComas is a Radiation Oncology Resident Physician in the USA, currently in her third year of training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in May 2020 in her hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. She has a passion for global oncology and advocacy and ultimately finds that the most rewarding part of her work is her patients.

McComas’s article Residents Across the Globe: A Call for Education, Advocacy, and Collaboration, Advances in Radiation Oncology, 18 August 2022, asserts that given radiation is needed to treat over half of all cancer cases, it is imperative to advocate for radiation oncology as a field and collaborate globally, especially as trainees.

We invite you to join the GCR and our resident advocates on 3 Nov 2022 at 16:30 CET where we will introduce the GCR Resident Group initiative and workshop ways global residents can come together to address the needs of cancer patients worldwide. Full agenda coming soon.
